Storefront Improvement Grant

Making a Big Impact on Small Business

Born in 2021 on the heels of the Coronavirus Pandemic, Fair Lawn Main Street's Storefront Improvement Grant has quickly become a mainstay program in our ongoing effort to bring resources directly to small businesses in town. Grants cover up to $12,000 (including a $2,600 professional storefront design) to completely transform a business's best marketing tool: it's storefront!

How to Qualify

In order to qualify for a storefront improvement grant, a business owner must meet a few criteria:

  • Business must be located in one of Fair Lawn's business districts (River Road, Broadway, Radburn)

  • Business must be a retail storefront based business (home businesses do not qualify)

  • Business must have been at current location a minimum of 5 years and have at least 2 additional years on the lease term in their current space

  • Business owner cannot be the landlord of their leased space

  • Business owner must have written consent from landlord to modify the storefront

In addition, the committee will need to determine whether the business has a tangible benefit from an upgraded storefront. â€‹If you’re a business owner that qualifies and would like to nominate yourself or a fellow business for consideration for storefront improvement grants, please contact us here.
